ROXY THEATER RENOVATION DETAILS

Construction on the ROXY Theater has begun! It will be completed in three phases. Beck Builders has been hired to complete this exciting project. Our initial plan is to open theater one with the stage and keep the axe throwing where it is for now. Later we plan to move the axe throwing and open theater two. The building is over 100 years old and a lot of work has to be done to bring the theater back to life and updated to modern standards.

Phase One: We have raised almost enough money to complete phase one. In this phase we are remodeling the front entrance, concessions area and bathrooms. We will be serving popcorn, candy, soda, soft serve ice cream, hot dogs and nachos. We are required to have a functioning kitchen, 3 bay sink for dishes and a hand wash sink. We have to flatten the floor in this area, add a wall, electrical, plumbing, doors new cabinets, refrigerator, dish washer, shelving and more. During this stage, the bathrooms are also being remodeled. They will get new walls, flooring, sinks, counter-tops and lighting. We estimate this part of the project will cost around $100,000 and about 70% of that has been raised

Phase Two: Stage two is all about fixing the structure of the building to meet safety requirements. During the inspection, planning and engineering process we found that there was once a fire in the ceiling area of theater one and never repaired properly. We also found that when the original owners turned it into a twin theater, three roof trusses were cut and never properly repaired. Over time this has put stress on the roof and one of the outer walls is showing evidence of that stress. To repair the problem and create a safe environment for our patrons, all the trusses need to be rebuilt and saddle brackets need to be added to ensure maximum safety encase of a seismic event. Unfortunately, this was something that we did not anticipate when we started the project. Not only has it increased our cost significantly but it will also likely mean a longer build time. Raising the money for this part of the project will determine how quickly we can open. The initial quote for this work will range between $50,000 and $100,000.

Phase Three: Remodeling movie theater one. This room is getting completely gutted. New drywall, insulation, wiring, theater seats, the screen will be raised higher, new projector, new sound system, new lighting, new doors, (inside and out). New carpet throughout the entire building, paint and all the design work to get ready for opening. We are lucky enough to be able to get the projector and sounds system from the Pharaohplex Otherwise just those two parts of this project would cost well over $100,000 alone. We estimate this part of the project will cost between $75,000 and $100,000.

We have successfully achieved 501c3 non profit status which means all donations are tax deductible. Why pay the IRS when you can receive amazing benefits by donating to a local cause that will bring much needed entertainment back to the valley and also restore a historic building in the process.
